Thoughts on AI — ChatGPT — Bella Wanana

Recently, there is a website called ChatGPT that went viral. It’s a chatbot developed by OpenAI and was launched in November 2022. I have heard a lot of good things about it since and decided to give it a try. The result is eye-opening and even scary.

First, I wanted to see if it can do my job for me. So I asked “Write an article about personal finance.”

Here is what I got:

“Personal finance is the process of managing an individual’s money to achieve their financial goals. This includes budgeting, saving, investing, and protecting against financial risks.

One of the most important aspects of personal finance is budgeting. A budget is a plan for how you will spend your money. It helps you track your expenses and make sure you are saving enough to reach your financial goals. To create a budget, you need to know how much money you make and how much you spend. There are many tools available to help you track your expenses, such as apps and spreadsheet templates.

Saving is another important aspect of personal finance. Having an emergency fund is crucial in case of unexpected expenses, such as a medical emergency or job loss. It is recommended to have at least three to six months of living expenses saved in an emergency fund. In addition to an emergency fund, it’s also important to save for long-term goals such as retirement or buying a home.

Investing is another key component of personal finance. Investing allows you to grow your money and reach your financial goals faster. There are many different types of investments, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate. It’s important to diversify your investments to spread risk and maximize returns.

Protection against financial risks is also an important aspect of personal finance. This includes insurance, such as health, life, and property insurance. It’s also important to have a plan in place to protect yourself from identity theft and financial fraud.

Personal finance is a lifelong process and it’s important to regularly review and adjust your financial plan. By budgeting, saving, investing, and protecting against financial risks, you can improve your financial situation and achieve your financial goals.

It’s also important to keep in mind that personal finance is not just about numbers but also about your relationship with money, it’s important to be mindful of our spending habits, and try to avoid unnecessary expenses, and to be aware of our emotions and thoughts when it comes to money. Furthermore, seeking professional help and education can be of great benefit when it comes to personal finance.”

Pretty amazing considering what I have seen other chatbots can do — those “virtual customer service rep” that many companies use today!

Now let us make it a bit more challenging and fun.

Since I love reading bedtime stories sometimes, I thought I could use some help from ChatGPT. So I asked “Write a romantic bedtime story that has the following elements: love, accounting, blogger. And also include a quote from Nelson Mandela.” This is what ChatGPT was able to provide under a minute:

“Once upon a time, in a small town, there lived a young woman named Emily. She was an accountant by profession and had a passion for numbers and organization. She spent her days working at a local accounting firm, and her nights blogging about personal finance and budgeting tips.

One day, while she was working late at the office, she met a young man named Jack. He was a freelance writer and blogger, who had just moved to town. They struck up a conversation about their shared love for writing and blogging, and soon they found themselves meeting up regularly to discuss their work.

As they spent more time together, Emily and Jack realized that they had a deep and undeniable connection. They fell in love and started dating. Every night, they would spend hours talking about their dreams and aspirations, while cuddled up in bed.

One evening, as they were getting ready for bed, Jack showed Emily a quote from Nelson Mandela that he had come across in his research. It read: “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

The quote struck a chord with Emily and she realized that she had been so focused on her career and financial goals that she had forgotten to live in the present and enjoy life. She knew then that with Jack by her side, she could achieve anything she wanted.

From that night on, Emily and Jack worked together to balance their professional and personal lives. They continued to pursue their passions and blog about their experiences, while also making sure to make time for each other and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

They lived happily ever after, and as they lay in bed each night, they reminded each other of the quote that had brought them closer together. They knew that as long as they had each other, they could rise above any obstacle and live their best lives.

The end.”

Hmm, how far can it go? I wanted to stretch its limit: “Write a romantic story but say it in a way Donald Trump would. Must have China, wall, Obama, and fake news.”

Here is the story:

“Once upon a time, there was a beautiful wall. A great, great wall. And on one side of the wall was China, a country that we were losing to, bigly. But on the other side of the wall was a beautiful, beautiful woman. And I, the great and powerful Donald Trump, was determined to make her mine.

But there was a problem. That loser, Obama, had a fake news media that said I couldn’t build a wall, that I couldn’t make China pay for it. But I showed them. I built the wall, and China paid for it, believe me.

And on the other side of the wall, the woman was waiting for me. And I went to her, and I said, “You’re gonna love me, baby. I’m the best, the biggest, the most handsome. And I built this wall just for us.”

And she looked at me, and she said, “Donald, I’ve been waiting for you. Let’s make America great again, together.”

And we lived happily ever after, folks.

The end.”

I am speechless at this point. I fall in love with this bot and just kept chatting with it from then on. Interested in checking it out? Go here and register a new account or log in using your existing Google or MS account. For personal use it is free!
